There is no privacy. One is able to look right in when it is opened. A hood on the back would have allowed for more privacy, but I knew what I was getting when I placed the order. I was most surprised that the door does not lay flush around the edges, allowing in a considerable amount of light, wind, and sound. Additionally, the instructions were not very detailed.
